In 1860 First Presbyterian Church of Hazlehurst was organized as a congregation of the New School Presbyterian United Synod of the South. In late 1864 it came under the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America. However, in 1865, when the Confederate States no longer existed the denomination’s name was changed to the Presbyterian Church in the United States. It remained in that body for 108 years until it joined the Presbyterian Church in America in 1973.

FPC Hazlehurst has a long and rich history that has been well documented and preserved over the years. Much of this history has been archived and is available to be viewed. If you would like to view archived material, please call 601-894-1409.
